The conventions I used in my magazine were used by many science magazines that I had researched. The single photo cover was used by national geographic to not over whelm the audience but to truly gather their attention. Having my model in the chemistry stock room gather the attention of those who work in the chemistry field. While the back is a little busy, there are only 2 other text boxes on the cover to keep the focus on the main article and interest the viewer to buy the magazine to see the rest. My table of contents is similar to that of a gossip magazine as I have pictures advertising the other article in my magazine. Using pictures as one of my convention I hope that one of the articles title and pictures will be eye catching to the reader and they will be interested in purchasing the magazine. 1. When did you start this program? My father started the program in 2000 and I took over after I graduated from college. I have been running this program for 10 years.   2. There are a few people I am looking to interview, the young lady who tested on stem cells, the research lab director and that of whom she worked with at the local hospital. I have created time during lunch to meet with the student at my school during this week, the research lab director offered to meet with her and I at lunch however I asked that we meet separately the next day. Having the night to review my answers from my first interview will allow me to re-write my questions for the director but potentially add more questions I would not have though of. I will complete a phone interview with whom she worked with at the hospital on their best time. However, I will not reach out until I have a rough draft of the article so I can ask the questions I need to fill in the blank.

I have updated my flat plan with all of my article titles. After looking at the research magazines I had done I combined multiple article ideas.

After researching several science magazines I feel confident in how to set up a flat plan. While most the magazines have their advertisements mixed in there were a few that, in my research, the advertisements were clumped in the middle of the magazine.  The advertisements I would allow for print would need to be related so science yet also college as many of the future scientist the will be reading this magazine are in high school or college.

I kept the same color scheme and created a template of the design I see would best fit the amount of articles I would like while still allowing me to have a matching picture to each article. The page numbers will be in a different more abstract font in the center of the article titles and pictures.

For the table of contents I am interested in having many visuals as a picture says 1000 words. I would like to have 10 articles on my table of contents as the average for those that I researched was 8 articles on their table of contents page. However, many did then have a second page. Since that option is unavailable to be I will stick to the 10 articles. I would like to set it up with the main article as the first listed then have the rest follow. I am still unsure how this will fit or look. I want to keep a constant color scheme throughout my magazine as National Geographic did in the volume I researched. The table of contents below are those that after further research I have found to mimic their layout.  

I have picked a title, "Future Scientist" while there is a company called future science, they do not have a magazine nor discuss the topics I would like to cover. I have decided to create  a more organized and clean look for my cover taking example after my magazine research 2 and 4.

I know the topic of my magazine and the article I would like to feature. However, I am not sure what to name my magazine nor how the cover should look. Based on the research I have done I know that I do not want a busy magazine cover, I like the National Geographic cover of just one detailed picture to show the readers the main focus of their magazine. The article I would like is to interview a student at my high school who has done research with stem cells and potentially unlocked a key to the future. I would like to have a simple picture of her on the cover in a smart but woman powerful position.  I want my target audience to be the next generation of scientist, those who will cure cancer, and change the world. Because of that I am leaning towards titles as such: - Next Gen Medicine -Future Minds -Millennial Take Over -Future Scientist -Youth of Tomorrow

Describe the cover layout- The cover layout is busy. There is an abstract design of an animal created from animals and hands. There is a an abstract river and trees by the foot of the animal. There is a large space for the magazine name, and to the right of it there are some feature pieces. The main article has its title to the left of the abstract design, in bold black letters it reads, "The Most Ancient Piece of You' then in smaller font below, 'The origin of all of us is still inside your cells'  What colors or text features are utilized? The cover has an overall color scheme of blues and blacks. However, the large abstract has red mixed in, making it stand out to the reader. The title is in a large dark blue followed by a light blue line to separate it from the rest of the page. Describe the cover layout- The cover of the magazine is a large number 10. The top left corner of the 10 contains a circle that says to, and a banner that says emerging technologies of 2017. It is an interesting take as to way they had the used the title. It gets the readers attention and shows the importance of the article. The large 10 appears to have also shattered the ground that it is sitting on.  What colors or text features are utilized? The enlarged 10 on the cover is in a bright red, the title of the magazine is partially covered by the 10 but is written in black. In black lettering under the 10 there a phrase, "World-changing ideas that are poised to transform society. The ground that is broken under the 10 is white with a tint of blue on the cracks.  What kind of articles are included and on what pages do they appear? Describe the cover layout- The cover is clean and elegant looking. It shows a hose faucet spilling out what appears to be sand. there is the large title, a subtitle, and 4 other article titles.  It is not distracting but a smooth transition to read what will be featured in this magazine.   What colors or text features are utilized? There are bright colors. The background is a light sea foam color with the large white letters for the title. There looks like what is sand pouring out of the faucet in the middle of the page. The sand is a light tan and detailed, it piles up at the bottom of the page and flows up the side of the page.  What kind of articles are included and on what pages do they appear? The articles of focus in this magazine are global water issues, dehydration issues, hurricane disaster and effects, and the perfect ice cubes.
