Digital Distribution Research- Popular Science

Image
The Popular Science magazine was just recently cut from bi monthly publications to quarterly publications. This is one way that the magazine is changing their distributions to move with the new technology and the change in demand. You can now check online for new daily articles, with email reminders/promotions.  It is $10 a year for their paper subscription through their website or you can also purchase a single magazine on Google Newsstand for $4.99. On their website there are advertisements for their social media and subscription frequently placed. They advertise on Twitter Facebook, and through email.

Traditional Digital Distribution of Magazine

A magazines most common way of digitally advertised and out in the market is by using a magazine distributor. Distribution companies use door- to- door selling,  negotiating with retailers and local businesses to stock the magazine, postage costs, labeling costs, delivery costs to retailers or businesses and other related expenses. You can also save some money and distribute your publication digitally. This helps you reduce mailing and labeling costs. A magazine distributor in my area is CircSense, they are located in Miami, Florida, only 3 and a half hours from me. CircSense covers the entire range of functions to build and manage the publication’s marketing and circulation. Their services include direct mail management, planning and execution, insert cards strategy and design, and budget...

Superbowl Advertisements

Image
One of the most expensive time of year for advertisements is during the NFL Super Bowl. Selling 30 seconds for 5 million dollars it is important that the viewers understand the advertisements. I broke down my favorite three advertisements to help gather ideas to promote my magazine. National Football League(NFL)- Famous NFL players, Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr, gathered the attention of viewers from young teens to seniors. Odell Beckham Jr. is a wide receiver for the New York Giants who has an appeal to the younger generation through his twitter and reality TV show. Eli Manning appeals more toward adults and seniors who have followed him with the Giants  for the past 13 years. Using faces that appeal to the audience the NFL already has our attention. They then proceed to keep it by playing the famous song from Dirty Dancing and Eli and Odell preform the dance. This light heart-ed dance is not only to promote the NFL but to hopefully boost their reputation. More recently the...
